A book lover's Mecca. Powell's is a place everyone should visit. If the book you're looking for isn't available here it probably doesn't exist. They carry everything from the newest releases to rare antique books. The cafe located inside is great for grabbing a coffee and reading your new book. Also, they have frequent book signings with both local and best-selling authors. Powell's is by far my favorite bookstore
Wow! That about describes this place. You can grab a coffee on the first floor before exploring the three floors filled with thousands of books, magazines and other memorabilia. We go there every time we visit Portland. The whole family enjoys the time we spend there.
Powell's is like Mecca for book lovers. This place is a gem and I definitely wish I lived here to visit more. I have family in the area and decided to wait with suitcase in tow at the coffee shop here while waiting for a ride...their food and coffee is great too! The staff were so friendly and helpful considering they could see I was traveling. Not my only visit here, but definitely was impressed on this occasion.
This place is so cool! If I lived in Portland, I would be here all the time. I don't think I even scratched the surface in my two-ish hours there. It was nice that there were tons of employees, too. The room of rare and old books was really cool, and the woman working answered my questions and was really nice. If you're going to Portland, definitely check this place out!
My son describes Powell's as the kind of place that caters to the life you imagine yourself living. A phenomenal selection of new and gently used books. Staff is helpful and always seems to enjoy what they're doing. Our family plans weekend trips that prominently feature stops to shop here.
