Who doesn't love Powell's? If you're looking for it, they probably have it. This is a truly gigantic store and it's easy to get turned around in due to its labrynth-like layout. Thankfully, staff is friendly and will offer to walk you to your destination and there are help desks scattered around as well. I really love all of the staff recommendation note cards throughout and it doesn't take long to figure out whose tastes are similar to your own. I found two terrific memoirs based on staff recommendations. You can sell your used books here after you've read them if you choose. I don't know what they pay but it's worth looking into. There was a long line of people waiting to sell so it must be in line with other bookstores' buyback policies. There are also some fun shopping areas for the non-book junkies and a great greeting card selection with quirky cards you won't find in your local drugstore. I bought several to hang onto for future occasions. Finally, there's a coffee shop where you can take a respite and rest your eyes before heading back out in search of new literary adventures.

The vibe isn't quite as busy or overwhelming is the original Powell's book store in downtown. But I enjoyed that. God a great price for the books we sold as well.

This is the most amazing bookstore I've seen! It is the biggest too, it is around a hole Apple. It has like a ten different rooms of category books. You can buy souvenirs too, there is a coffee shop inside, tables for read a little because there is a lot of people and everyone wants to keep but aren't enough tables. I am still surprise!!

Biggest bookstore I've ever been in. Huge selection of new and used books. Eat to find what you're looking for, and the staff is super friendly. Take some time here, it's easy to was an entire afternoon at this place!

The gold standard of bookstores as far as I'm concerned. My only complaint is the large crowd that seems to constantly be there from open to close, however it is well staffed and set to handle it. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes to check out even when the line appears dauntingly long. I especially like the book buying staff who with only one exception are all friendly, knowledgeable, and super helpful.
