Was about to purchase an all city electric queen when i noticed it was last years model at full cost. Quick online search shows most shops selling last years model on discount and i found one for $700 less at Western Bikeworks plus they gave me over $100 store credit. I was working with Mark at Universal cycles who was very helpful and knowledgeable but another employee kept pushing me to go tubeless even though i wasnt interested. Glad i looked around before purchasing.

Exceptional service. I purchased a new mtn. bike with some extra parts recently, but one of those parts wasn't working correctly. They helped with troubleshooting it, then swapped it out and took care of the warranty process. A week later they took the time to reach out with additional tech documents they got from the manufacturer, hopefully to prevent the same issue in the future. Absolutely above and beyond for a simple part swap.Their great wheel builder service, easy price match tool, and comprehensive website is what brought me in. The service has me locked in as a customer though. Thank you UC!
I'm giving 5 stars for hands down the best bike shop in Portland. You guys have the best and most knowledgeable staff. They are helpful, courteous and friendly. I also love that I have never been told that you are out of stock, since the staff can simply walk back to the warehouse and get what I ask for.Two things that could be improved: the front door is super non-bike friendly. And the web site is hideous to negotiate. I can't stand it. Other sites (your local PDX competition) are inviting to an online cycling shopper, but every time I think I'll check out Universal online, I give up on it.
