This was a horrible location to stay. It looks great superficially, but beware. The room was dirty with mold in the bathroom, there were no towels, garbage bags or hand soap. The kicker, the lock on the door didn't work which wasn't apparent until my husband went to knock on the door the second day (forgot his key card) and the door just pushed open. We were there with an infant...huge security risk! They didn't offer another room, did some jankity "fix" then promised to refund payment 50%. I gave a week to see the refund, then contact them only to be told they actually wouldn't be giving the promised discount due to booking via a third party. On top of this, there were extra BS charges, some urban fee and parking fee, which were never disclosed to us. Would never recommend this place, look elsewhere!
This hotel was clean, with sweeping vies of the Willamette River. The staff was wonderful. I was here only for one night and wished it was for longer. I ate dinner next door and had two fabulously delicious meals next door for dinner and breakfast. Highly recommend it. It was very peaceful and serene.
hidden fee of 30 dollars an evening for valet parking. No other convienant parking option nearby. Out of the way location. The "Valet Only" parking is literally a lot next to the hotel. This is a clear scam. Dirty room. Paid for a "hill view" open the window to find myself staring at a wall. Crumbs, hair, dirt on the floor. Furniture cheap, worn, marked and dirty. Advertised as a 4 star hotel and spa- in actuality it's an absolute Dump. Do Not waste your time and money. Expensive for absolutely nothing. Staff is kind and friendly, but really, who cares when the purpose of booking here was to stay in a nice, comfortable room. Rip Off.
The previous comments are almost exclusively scathing. My son and I had a great stay. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful (Mercedes, Nathan).
The River's Edge Hotel is located just a little south of Downtown. Is location means that noise isn't an issue, however getting to Downtown will require driving or Uber, which could be inconvenient depending on the reason for your visit to Portland. The positives: The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms and facilities are clean. The price is also quite reasonable for an overnight stay. The negatives: Valet parking ($30/night) is basically mandatory if you drove to the hotel. The design of the rooms and common areas is surprisingly bland. No risks were taken and no themes seemed to jump out. Had I not known any better, it might have been an upscale Holiday Inn. This hotel has the opportunity to really set itself a part. For example, a lodge theme with large exposed wood beams and cast iron rivets would give it a unique warm feel - something you might expect at a Hotel on the Edge of a River. In any case, it is a fine hotel with great staff. I'd recommend it if you don't have any business in Downtown Portland and you're looking for a quiet/peaceful night's rest.
