I was blocked into a space by a transit officer while he was honking his horn and very aggressively telling me to move my vehicle. He was extremely intimidating. I kept trying to let him know I wanted to move my car but that he had me blocked in, but he demanded I roll my window down while sitting in his car. I figured it was safe to do so since he wasnt standing outside. He continued to repeat himself when I rolled the window down and I asked him if he could please move his car so I could do so. He then threatened me with a citation. I could see he was triggered and I still have no idea by what but taking it out on me was incredibly unnecessary and not ok. You dont get to intimidate others simply because youre in the position to do so. I could see those measures being necessary if someone were aggressively refusing to cooperate but this man was immediately provoked to anger before I even knew I was in a space I couldnt be in. All I was doing was dropping my boyfriend off and then pulling out again to drive away. For reference this was in downtown portland in front of a hotel. Just before I was confronted, I had just witness another transit officer on foot on that same street, screaming at another man. I didnt want to assume I knew the story and wanted to think the best of the officers but having had my experience literally a minute after that, I am very concerned about the training strategies administered in this department. I no longer see this as a safeguard. I feel I need to be protected from them. The only reason I didnt give a one was because Im sure not every transit officer is an animal incapable of basic communication.
Keep up the Good Work!!!

on may 17@12;40 i boarded the blue line to hillsboro not knowing the local system here as i came from seattle just 2 days prior. This over-zelous cop targeted me simply because i looked homeless and did not my validate ticket. i showed him my trimet honored citzen card along with the fare ticket and washington state i.di explained to the officer i was not aware of that as i,m not from here and was on a time crunch. rather than tell me to get off and valiate my fare he wrote me a 175.00 ticket for no other reason than to target what he percieved to be a black homeless person.several passengers even comented as to why he didnt take that into considerationis this the way portland treats its visitors????? i will be sure to fight this and pass along to other washingtonians to be leary of using the tri-met system here because if you look a certain way you will be targeted.
