I really like supporting small businesses instead of chains that is why I was super excited when I found one that is also green. I try to shop here instead of Mud Bay if i can, yes the prices can be a bit higher but if I can support a small business then im all up for that. I find the service in this place a bit laid back (im trying to be polite here) compared to services you get from other pet stores. However, the incident last week is plain stupid and lazy at the same time. Yes Portland is known for laid back service but there is a fine line between that and just lazy and incompetent. We are very busy individuals, we respect other people's time and expect the same in return. When we called the shop in the morning, we asked if the groomer is available. They said yes she is on so and so dates. We confirmed if they are in that day, they said yes until a certain time. We called again in the afternoon to make sure we can do walk in, they even said, the latest you will have to wait is 10 mins if you had to. We asked for lunch breaks and they said, no the person is available. We walked in the store, and guess what? The groomer was off!!!!!! WTH????? How difficult is it to walk around the store and check if the groomer is around and communicate an accurate status to your customer? Yes everyone makes mistakes but some mistakes can be avoided if the right steps are made to ensure that you are giving your customers the service they deserve. I will not recommend this place and I will take my business somewhere else and make sure that all my friends and family I happily referred to this will no longer support it until they get better people who know what real customer service means. Customer service doesnt mean just saying hi and hello and smiling. Customer service involves actual service, work done, effort made, more than just lifting a finger. Providing accurate information and respecting people's time is a huge part of it. When you make a huge mistake like this, you just dont shrug your shoulders and say "im sorry" in the most insincere way. You make sure you do your customer right... saying im sorry for a stupid mistake just doesnt cut it. We paid $3 more at coats and tails but it was well worth it.

this place is great, and just getting better imo. they have affordable groomers, a knowledgeable staff, great return policy (basically 30 days, no questions asked for most things), and prices competitive with Mud Bay, the other store in the neighborhood with great prices. they also host a vaccination and basic vet clinic (monthly? check the schedule) --never used it but the rates are very low. Nice staff... not a huge store but good selection of food, treats, and natural products, including CBD. Also have UPS prepaid drop off for returns etc., which is nice. Highly recommend.
